This KYC (Know Your Customer) Policy explains how SafePayUPI, operated by THEME SEVA ("we", "us", "our"), verifies the identity of merchants using the Service. It applies to every account that generates UPI QR codes, payment links, or payment pages through SafePayUPI, and forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
KYC verification is required before certain features of the Service are activated on your account, including but not limited to:
Note: SafePayUPI does not hold or move your funds — verification relates only to your access to the Service's tools, not to custody of any payment.
Depending on your account type, we may request:
| Category | Accepted documents |
|---|---|
| Identity proof | PAN card, Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence |
| Address proof | Aadhaar, utility bill, bank statement (recent) |
| Business proof (if applicable) | GST certificate, Udyam/MSME registration, shop & establishment licence, partnership deed, or certificate of incorporation |
| UPI ID / bank proof | Cancelled cheque, bank passbook, or UPI ID confirmation linked to your registered bank account |
| Photograph | Recent passport-size photo or live selfie for verification |
We only collect what is necessary for the account tier and purpose you are registering for.
Once documents are submitted through the dashboard, our team (or an authorized verification partner) reviews them for authenticity and consistency with your registration details. Verification may include automated document checks, manual review, or a confirmation call/OTP to your registered mobile number or email.
We may decline, place under review, or request re-submission of KYC documents at our discretion, including where documents are unclear, inconsistent, expired, or where the stated business activity conflicts with our Acceptable Use Policy. You will be notified of the outcome through the dashboard or by email, and may re-submit corrected documents.
KYC information is used solely to verify your identity, assess eligibility for account features, and meet our obligations under applicable law and payment network rules. It is stored securely, accessed only by authorized personnel, and handled in line with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share KYC data with third parties except where required by law, a regulator, or a payment network.
We may periodically request updated documents or additional information if your account activity, business details, or applicable regulations change. Failure to respond to a re-verification request within the notified period may result in feature restrictions or suspension under our Terms & Conditions.
Submitting false or misleading information during KYC is a violation of our Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
We may share KYC records with RBI, NPCI, law enforcement, or other regulators/payment networks where legally required, including as part of fraud investigations or compliance audits.
We may update this KYC Policy from time to time to reflect regulatory or operational changes. Material changes will be notified through the dashboard or by email before they take effect.
