Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026 · Operated by THEME SEVA

01 Purpose & scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you may and may not do with SafePayUPI, operated by THEME SEVA ("we", "us", "our"). It applies to every QR code, payment link, payment page, dashboard action, and API/SDK call made through the Service, and forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

02 Prohibited goods & services

You may not use the Service to request or collect payment for:

  • Narcotics, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or weapons of any kind
  • Counterfeit goods or pirated software, media, or intellectual property
  • Gambling, betting, lottery, or games of chance not licensed under applicable Indian law
  • Multi-level marketing, pyramid, or Ponzi-style schemes
  • Unregistered or unlicensed financial services, including unlicensed lending or forex trading
  • Adult content, escort services, or any sexually exploitative material
  • Any goods or services that are illegal under Indian law or the law of the payer's jurisdiction

03 Prohibited conduct

You may not:

  • Use the Service to facilitate fraud, phishing, or social engineering of payers
  • Launder money or structure transactions to evade RBI/NPCI/UPI thresholds or reporting requirements
  • Misrepresent your identity, business name, or the purpose of a payment request
  • Generate QR codes or links on behalf of a third party without authorization
  • Use another merchant's UPI ID, branding, or account without consent
  • Solicit payments for a purpose materially different from what is shown to the payer

Any transaction linked to fraud, scam reports, or chargeback abuse may result in immediate suspension under Section 9 of our Terms, independent of any bank or UPI app action.

04 Platform & account security

You may not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other merchants' accounts, or our infrastructure
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or probe the Service's software, API, or SDKs beyond documented use
  • Introduce malware, bots, or automated scripts intended to disrupt or overload the Service
  • Circumvent rate limits, plan allowances, or account restrictions through technical means
  • Share, sell, or sublicense API keys or account credentials to unauthorized parties

05 Accurate representation

Payment pages, QR codes, and links generated through SafePayUPI must accurately reflect your business, the goods or services being sold, and the amount requested. You may not use the Service to display misleading branding, false urgency, or deceptive claims intended to induce payment.

06 Monitoring & reporting

We may monitor account activity, transaction patterns, and reported complaints to detect violations of this AUP. We are not obligated to actively review every QR code, link, or page generated, but reserve the right to investigate any account flagged by a payer, bank, payment network, or regulator.

07 Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in one or more of the following, at our discretion:

  • A warning and request to remove or correct the offending content
  • Temporary suspension of the account or specific features
  • Permanent termination of the account under our Terms & Conditions
  • Reporting to RBI, NPCI, law enforcement, or other relevant authorities where legally required

Outstanding fees for the current billing period remain payable even where an account is suspended or terminated for a violation.

08 Reporting abuse

If you believe a SafePayUPI account is being used for a prohibited purpose, or you have received a suspicious QR code or payment link claiming to be from us, please report it using the contact details below. Include as much detail as possible — the merchant name, QR/link, and nature of the concern — to help us investigate promptly.

09 Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP from time to time to reflect new risks, regulatory requirements, or operational needs. Material changes will be notified through the dashboard or by email before they take effect.
